Membership Manager
Mammoth Lakes Chamber of Commerce
The Membership Manager (MM) manages membership recruitment, member programming and assigned events. The MM must be excited to improve the Mammoth Lakes community. Ideal candidates will be extremely professional, have great interpersonal skills, strong in administrative support and computer knowledge and believe in the Chamber’s mission.
This position is full-time hourly and reports to the President & CEO. Support at some evening, weekend and holiday events is required.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
• Oversee membership recruitment and retention including
- Develop and manage monthly membership recruitment efforts
- Identify potential members, communicate with existing members and onboard new members
- Work with CEO to build relationships with members
- Increase membership retention through a formalized retention strategy
- Generate membership, financial and marketing reports for CEO
• Manage financials: generate invoices, log payments, deposit checks, reconcile credit card/bank statements
• Attend monthly board meetings and take minutes; take notes at monthly committee meetings and schedule committee meetings by coordinating with committee chairs
• Coordinate, set up, run and break down all Chamber events – monthly events include Business After Hours and Power Lunch; special events include 4th of July Parade, Business Awards Gala, and others as needed
• Under the direction of the CEO, manage Chamber programs
• Other duties as assigned
Requirements
• Excellent understanding of the Mammoth Lakes community, economy and tourism landscape
• Experience working in an office/professional environment and being part of a close-knit office team
• Highly organized, detail-oriented and able to manage multiple tasks and priorities through time management strategies
• Positive attitude and commitment to the Chamber’s mission, vision and values
• Strong interpersonal and relationship skills
• Strong communication and active listening skills
• Proactive, self-motivated, and able to work both independently and collaboratively
• Critical thinker with a solution-oriented mindset
• Competent with Apple Mac computers with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (including Teams), Google Suite, MailChimp and Google Analytics
• Basic knowledge of AI platforms such as ChatGPT, Copilot, etc
• Ability to travel for business conferences, meetings and seminars as needed (<10%)
• Ability to lift 50 pounds
• Valid CA driver’s license and reliable vehicle
Ideal Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, business or economics
• 3-5 years of relevant experience
• Experience with ChamberMaster or another member management software or CRM
• Experience working interagency with town, city, county, regional or federal agencies
• Proven success in a relationship-focused role and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Compensation/Benefits
This position is based in Mammoth Lakes, California, and candidates must reside within driving distance from our office; those not currently living in the area must be willing to relocate. The Mammoth Lakes Chamber of Commerce is a private, not-for-profit organization that offers a comprehensive benefits package, including a company-paid medical plan, a 401(k) retirement program with up to 4% company matching, paid time off and fitness reimbursement. This is a full-time, non-exempt position with an hourly pay range of $25–$27.
