Mechanical Maintenance Worker I
Mechanical Maintenance Worker I is an entry-level training class for candidates qualified to learn and perform unskilled or semi-skilled water/wastewater system installation, maintenance and repair assignments, and customer service tasks as defined by MCWD and the State Water Resources Control Board. Incumbents undergo a formal training program in the distribution, collection and metering of water/wastewater systems under the direct supervision of certified staff while gaining experience to qualify for an Operator certificate, and perform related work as required. Incumbents must also obtain a valid California Class B Driver License. Failure to successfully complete the training program will be cause for an end to the training assignment with our client.
Individuals may be required to work extended hours and in all manner of inclement weather.

Education: Graduation from high school or equivalent.
Experience: No specific work experience is required.
Driver License: Possession of a valid California Class C Driver License at time of application, and proof of a good driving record free from multiple or serious traffic violations or accidents for a least two years duration. NOTE: Applicants must submit, at the time of application, a current copy of their driving record from the State of California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) issued no later than one month prior to submitting of application. Applicant must obtain a California Class B within 12 months of entering the assignment.
Driver License: Possession of a valid California Class A or B Driver License, and proof of a good driving record free from multiple or serious traffic violations or accidents for a least two years duration. This position has been designated as being “safety sensitive” and requires all eligibles offered contract extra help employment to successfully pass a drug test prior to employment. Federal law requires that applicants for positions involving the operation of certain transit vehicles, revenue service vehicles, the transportation of hazardous materials, or heavy equipment over 26,001 pounds requiring a commercial driver license, must undergo pre-employment drug testing as a condition of employment.
